The Kansas City Chiefs are beginning their bye week, but that doesn’t stop talk about the most pressing issue for the 1-5 team. Who is the quarterback?
Crennel wouldn’t say who will start if Cassel is cleared to practice and then play Oct. 28 against visiting Oakland. Cassel has not been cleared yet.
“When Matt is cleared to practice football, then we’ll evaluate it and then we’ll make the decision at that time,” Crennel said.
My guess is Cassel will start when he is healthy, because Quinn didn’t do enough to make the Chiefs think he can save their season. If Cassel goes back behind center, his leash will be short, but so would Quinn's. Crenel said the post-bye key for his team is to create offensive balance. Translation: Whoever the quarterback is, he must perform better than what the Chiefs have gotten thus far.
In other AFC West news:
Oakland guard Mike Brisiel suffered a concussion in Atlanta. He will need to pass a battery of tests before being cleared to practice.
