Here are some areas the Kansas City Chiefs need to focus on after a 26-16 home loss to Oakland on Sunday:

Recap: The Chiefs continued to make a case for being America’s worst team. They probably are right now. Kansas City is 1-6 and it looks completely incapable of competing. This is getting ugly, folks.

Biggest area to fix: Simply competing. The Chiefs are currently incapable of staying with opponents. They fall behind and they can’t catch up. Seriously, Kansas City, try leading a game for once.

Biggest area to build on: Matt Cassel’s confidence. Maybe no one else is confident in him, but Cassel has to feel decent about his performance after he spelled an injured Brady Quinn on Sunday. On a short week, Cassel may get another chance at San Diego to show he should become the regular starter again.

What to watch for: The Chiefs have to bounce back quickly as they play at San Diego on Thursday night. The only positive for the Chiefs is the Chargers are floundering themselves, having lost three straight games.
