Well, the Chiefs’ win watch is over.

Scratch Kansas City off the list of potential Detroit Lions 0-16 copycats. It’s not going to happen this year.

The Chiefs finally found a way to close a game. It’s wasn’t pretty (Kansas City scored on four field goals and a safety), but Kansas City made key plays in the fourth quarter. That had been a problem for Kansas City dating back to last season.

Kansas City blew two games late this season, including last week against Dallas. The win snapped a nine-game losing streak for the Chiefs dating back to last season. The Chiefs entered the game with 28 losses in the past 30 games.

This victory was needed as Todd Haley earned his first NFL win as a head coach. Haley has tried everything from demoting two offensive coaches to taking his coaching staff of the practice field two days before the Dallas game to fire up his team.

Finally, the Chiefs got a payoff Sunday. This win likely won’t trigger an amazing playoff run, but it’s the first win of the Scott Pioli-Haley era and that’s important. It will eventually turn around in Kansas City. When it does, Sunday’s win will be remembered.
