Fox sports reports the Chiefs have hired former Jacksonville offensive line coach Andy Heck for the same position. Heck is well respected. New Kansas City coach Andy Reid had interviewed former Miami head coach and former Jets’ offensive coordinator Tony Sparano for the position.

Tom Moore continues to say he wants to be an offensive coordinator. He was Peyton Manning’s offensive coordinator for 13 years in Indianapolis, and they remain close. Denver has an opening at the position with Mike McCoy leaving to become the Chargers’ head coach.

A key to the Chiefs hiring Dave Toub -- known around the league as one of the best special teams coaches in the NFL -- is that he is bringing his assistant Kevin O’Dea. He is considered a premier punter-and kicker specialist. Toub told the Chicago Tribune that the two are a “package deal.”

UPDATE: The Chiefs made the Heck and O’Dea hires official.
