It’s no surprise the Denver Broncos are the choice of our readers to be the next AFC West team to make the Super Bowl.
Denver went 13-3 and beat second-place San Diego, 7-9, by six games. Kansas City earned the No. 1 pick in the draft, and Oakland earned the No. 3 pick in the draft. For the short term, there is no doubt, Denver is in the best shape.
And our poll reflected it. As of 1:30 p.m. ET, Denver received 39 percent of the vote, the Chiefs and Raiders both received 22 percent of the vote, and the Chargers received 17 percent of the vote.
The division has not been represented in the Super Bowl since Oakland lost to Tampa Bay in 2003. It is the longest divisional drought in the NFL. In fact, every other division has been represented in the Super Bowl at least twice since then.
Perhaps the end of the drought is in sight … or perhaps not. Either way, we’ll all be here impatiently waiting to see the division represented in the Super Bowl again.
