It appears Al Davis, right, will keep Lane Kiffin around for at least another week.

Well, it appears Lane Kiffin gets to go to Buffalo.

We guess.

There was no word out of Oakland on a coaching change. Now that it's Wednesday and the NFL practice week is in full swing, it would be remarkable if Al Davis fired Kiffin now. But, again, it's Oakland. Remarkable occurrences are routine.

There were rampant rumors that Kiffin would be fired Monday or Tuesday. He survived.

Of course, Davis can stop all the Kiffin-firing talk by saying something, either way. But he hasn't. Maybe that's part of the plan? Maybe this is Kiffin's punishment for speaking his mind. Maybe Davis isn't planning to fire Kiffin at all? Maybe the threat of a firing is all Davis is interested in?

It's one of the most intriguing story lines in the NFL, no matter what happens.

NOTE: I have to go to an NFL Insiders segment for ESPNews. I will return later with AFC West injury news and other developments.
