Here are three keys for the San Diego Chargers focus on in Thursday’s preseason opener against visiting Seattle. Kickoff is set for 10 p.m. Thursday:
Philip Rivers: This will be Rivers’ debut under the guidance of Mike McCoy and Ken Whisenhunt. The training camp reviews have been good. Even though Rivers will play in a limited role, this outing is important.
Offensive line: Rivers will need to get better protection than he has in the past two years. This line is not great, but it has to show it can get the job done.
Manti Te'o: The rookie inside linebacker has looked great in training camp. He is an instant starter. It will be interesting to see how he reacts to his first game action, especially against a strong offense like Seattle’s.
