The following is a look at why I placed the AFC West teams where I did in the Week 4 NFL power rankings:
Denver Broncos
Power ranking: 7
Where I picked them: I picked the Broncos at No. 4. I put all five of the 3-0 teams in the top five. Did I over rank Denver? Perhaps, but 3-0 is an impressive start and there are some very nice pieces on this team.
San Diego Chargers
Power ranking: 9
Where I picked them: I had the Chargers at No. 14. This team is ready to fly up the rankings. I did rank San Diego over a few 2-1 teams but this is a team that has scored 110 points and lost two heartbreakers. This will be an elite team very soon.
Oakland Raiders
Power ranking: 29
Where I picked them: I had Oakland at No. 27. The Raiders are a long way from being a consistent winner, but they have played hard the past two weeks during a very turbulent time for the organization.
Kansas City Chiefs
Power ranking: 31
Where I picked them: I had Kansas City at No. 31. The Chiefs aren't making much progress on the field. But I had them ranked as the best team from the state of Missouri. That's worth something isn't it?
