It looks like Larry Johnson has found a home. ESPN’s Michael Smith is reporting Johnson is expected to sign with the Cincinnati Bengals.

Johnson’s agent, Peter Schaffer, told ESPN.com last week that he’d wait to Monday to make a deal. That plan worked out because Cincinnati running Cedric Benson was injured Sunday.

This is an ideal situation for Johnson because he is going to a winning team, if he does end up signing with the Bengals. They are 7-2.

Johnson will meet the Chiefs if he signs with the Bengals. The Chiefs visit Cincinnati on Dec. 27. Kansas City cut Johnson last Monday after he served a one-game suspension for using gay slurs. Johnson ended his Kansas City career just 56 yards from becoming the team’s all-time leading rusher. After his release, he was credited for 19 extra yards from the game against the Giants on Oct. 4.

If Johnson signs with the Bengals this week, he will have a familiar foe right away. The Bengals visit Oakland on Sunday. The Bengals visit San Diego on Dec. 20. So in the seven games as a Bengal, Johnson is poised to face three AFC West teams.
