ALAMEDA, Calif. – It appears Oakland Raiders starting middle linebacker Nick Roach is on pace to play Sunday in the season opener against the New York Jets.

Roach was on the practice field Wednesday for the first time since suffering a concussion Aug. 22 at Green Bay. Roach should be able to play assuming he continues to show no concussion symptoms.

As a defensive player, it will be important for Roach to be on the field. Miles Burris and Kaluka Maiava have been spelling him.
