Needs improvement

Here is an area each AFC West team needs to improve upon from Week 15:

Denver, stop the run: Oakland logged 241 rushing yards and ate up Denver on the ground in a 20-19 upset win. If the Eagles control the clock like the Raiders did, Denver, desperate to clinch a wild-card spot, will not have a chance to pull off the upset Sunday.

Kansas City, don’t allow big plays: Kansas City would have beaten Cleveland last week if it didn’t allow huge plays both on defense and on special teams in a 41-34 defeat. Josh Cribbs had two kickoff returns and Jerome Harrison ran for 286 yards, the third highest single-game rushing total ever in the NFL. The Chiefs have to not allow explosive plays if they have a chance to upset the Bengals on the road.

Oakland, turnovers: The Raiders didn’t have any glaring issues in their big win at Denver. But they did have two turnovers. The way Cleveland has been scoring lately, Oakland is going to need to have better ball security to win in Cleveland.

San Diego, pass rush: The Chargers will have to try to make Vince Young uncomfortable on Friday night. The Chargers did not pressure Cincinnati’s Carson Palmer as he brought his team back in the fourth quarter last week.
