I asked for Chiefs' fans thoughts on a possible Tony Gonzalez trade and you delivered. Here is a sampling of what Chiefs fans are saying about the situation:

Shannon R. from Indep., Mo.: The Chiefs organization owes this much to Tony G. Do I, as a die-hard Chiefs fan want him to go? Heck no!! But this ragtag team isn't going any where for at least two more years. The Chiefs not only are screwing their fans over, but dedicated veterns such as Tony. When we had defense, no offense. Outstanding offense, no defense. Now? Our best team is the punting team! He deserves a ring and has every right to ask for a trade. We don't even have a qb who can get him the ball. 3rd round? Too low. 2nd round no less. I, as many other Chiefs fans, will not hate Tony or put any blame on him. What we will do is blame Carl Peterson for running this team in the ground and losing valuable players. (Jared Allen?) Bill Cowher come home!

Jonathan from Wichita: Hey Bill, I just want to say first that I just made twenty bucks on a bet that the Chiefs would not lose this week ( they did not apparently know that it was they're bye ) so Im happy about that. The idea of trading Tony Gonzalez to a contender Im also happy about. This is a winning situation for everybody. Tony, the Chiefs, and the contender-to-be-named-later. I think it would be nice if Tony finally got into the playoffs and got a chance for the ring and the glory. It would get the Chiefs a decent pick in the next draft, and whoever, a great TE for the next few years. My question is, what do you think Carl and the Chiefs could haggle for him??? My thoughts are Maybe a 2nd rd pick, or maybe a 3rd and 5th..? Hopefully we can get a playmaking WR to pair up with D-Bowe in that 1st day pick.

Schmuckles from KC: I have been adamant about wishing to see Tony G. retire as a Chief in the past. It's so rare for a player to play his entire career with one team and having the greatest TE ever play for only your team would be excellent. That said, I actually find myself hoping Tony gets traded to a contender now. I feel bad for him considering he has never even been able to win a playoff game and this team is so bad right now. I think Tony deserves a chance at being on a winning team. I wouldn't trade him for less than a 3rd rounder though...it just doesn't make sense with the amount of production he is still putting up and the fact that he could easily play another 4-5 years at a high level if he wants to.

Ryan from stjoeMO: Honestly, I do not care if he stays or he goes. Kansas City needs a winner and that is all. I along with others from my area are dying for a championship. If Larry and/or Tony were to be traded to a contender so be it. As long as they are compensated somewhat respectfully.

Jon from Overland Park: Tony deserves the chance. I think a third rounder from NY is acceptable if KC is also able to pick up a promising, young prospect from the Yankees.

Trent Rudder from Columbia, Mo: As a chiefs fan, I would be upset it they traded tony, period. But if they do it for a third round pick i'm going to start calling for herm and carl's heads.

Rob from KC: Bill, I want to rant and get your thoughts on a few things. First, I must say that I hope Tony G, gets out of this town. He is to good of a football player to play on a BADDDD TEAM! This team sucks and Herm Edwards play calling is about as useful as an enema. This town is tired of Herm and King Carl! What we need is a head coach who is not afraid to open up a playbook and throw it down field. We are letting a great player suffer because our owner doesn?t know the first thing about running this organization. People are already starting to plan walk outs at the game, and watching this team on TV is more a comedy act rather than pro football game. Jason Whitlock is right, this team needs to get rid of Carl and Herm and get a head coach who plays to win the game. Herm plays to win the draft not the game. My questions to you are, do we have to get rid of all our good players so we can gamble on the draft hoping we might get someone good? And if Herm Edwards likes young kids so much, why doesn?t he go down to the college ranks?
