The Chiefs put Damon Huard on the injured reserve Wednesday with a thumb injury. Not that Huard was the answer for Kansas City, but this is devastating for the Chiefs as far as the final 10 games of the season go.

The Chiefs also put starter Brodie Croyle on injured reserve with a knee injury. Both players were hurt during the Chiefs' 34-10 loss to Tennessee as they fell to 1-5.

Now, the Chiefs turn to Tyler Thigpen. He will be backed up by Ingle Martin and newly signed Quinn Gray. It wouldn't be a surprise if Martin and Gray play at some point during the season.

Thigpen has been ineffective. He threw three interceptions against Atlanta in his only start. It is very clear the Chiefs will try to acquire a franchise-type quarterback next year, but for now Thigpen will be given the chance to finish the season. But if he can't, the Chiefs will try to get by with Martin and Gray.

Of course, Thigpen's chances of succeeding in his second start Sunday at the Jets, will be even more difficult with standout running back Larry Johnson being inactive for the second straight week as a punishment for off-field issues.

Times are tough in Kansas City these days with little chance of a turnaround this season.
