Chiefs honor Schottenheimer

Kansas City fan favorite Marty Schottenheimer is getting the highest honor from the team.

The Chiefs announced Saturday that Schottenheimer will be the 2010 inductee into their hall of fame. Schottenheimer is the 40th member of the team’s hall of fame. He joins Hank Stram as the only other coach in the team’s hall of fame.

Schottenheiemr was 101-58-1 as Kansas City’s coach. He coached the team from 1989-98. He will be honored  at halftime of a home game during the 2010 season.

“On behalf of our family and the entire Chiefs organization, we are extremely pleased with Marty Schottenheimer’s election to the Chiefs Hall of Fame,” Chiefs Chairman Clark Hunt said in a statement released by he team. “Marty maintains the best career winning percentage of any Chiefs head coach, and he led the club to more postseason appearances than anyone in our history. He is certainly very deserving of this honor, and I know our fans will be excited to welcome him to the New Arrowhead as a member of the Chiefs Hall of Fame when he is officially inducted this fall.”
