The Denver Broncos put backup tight end Nate Jackson on the injured reserve list Thursday, the team's 12th player to go on IR this season. He suffered a hamstring injury in practice Wednesday.
Denver brought back tight end Chad Mustard to take Jackson's place. Jackson is a pass-catching specialist. Mustard is more of a blocking tight end.
With Jackson out, Denver needs to hope Tony Scheffler can stay healthy. He has been dealing with a groin injury since Oct. 5. Scheffler played and was productive against Cleveland on Nov. 6 but didn't play much against Atlanta on Sunday.
The Broncos have had to make a lot of moves but not as many as the Chiefs who have been a revolving door this season as they try to find players for the future. The Chiefs have 14 new players since Week 8.
