Evening AFC West notes
By Bill Williamson
In an interview with a Bay Area radio station, Oakland coach Tom Cable tired of talking about the released JaMarcus Russell and shot down talk that the team could sign veteran receiver Terrell Owens.
- The visit of guard/center Cory Procter in Denver makes sense. He was released by Dallas this week. Denver doesn’t have a lot of depth at the interior of the offensive line. Procter could help.
- The Chargers had an OTA practice Tuesday. The San Diego Union Tribune offers a nice report on it. Among the highlights was the absence of key veterans because they haven’t signed their tenders. This issue could extend in training camp, for some of the players. Also, the paper was impressed with fifth-round pick Cam Thomas. The nose tackle could make an immediate impact. He was projected as a second-round pick.
