Russell's return to Oakland is TKO
By Bill Williamson
Weird story out of Oakland.
The Oakland Tribune reports that former Oakland Raiders quarterback JaMarcus Russell showed up to a boxing match Saturday night at the arena adjacent the Oakland Coliseum. He reportedly arrived for the bout very late and the former LSU star was dressed in Alabama garb and wore sunglasses in the arena.
Fans quickly recognized Russell and he was roundly booed and heckled. Clearly, if Russell thought Oakland fans have forgotten about his 7-18 tenure in Oakland, which ended in May when the Raiders cut him, he was wrong.

The Oakland Tribune makes a pitch for the Raiders to sign veteran center Kevin Mawae. Why not? It wouldn’t hurt Oakland, which needs experience and toughness on the offensive line.
