Evening notes: Charlie Weis to call plays in K.C.
By Bill Williamson
Kansas City Chiefs coach Todd Haley told a radio station that new offensive coordinator Charlie Weis will be the primary play caller.
This is not a surprise.
One of the reasons Weis was brought in was to take a primary role in the offense. Most offensive coordinators call the plays. Haley called the plays last season after he fired offensive coordinator Chan Gailey shortly before the start of the regular season.
After the season, Haley indicated he was stretched a bit thin. Weis was a strong play caller and having him call the plays has been expected since he was hired.
- Richard Seymour is raring to go in his first training camp in Oakland. Seymour was in New England last year for the start of training camp. It will be good for him to get an early start in Oakland this season.
