Report: Chargers and McNeill talking again
By Bill Williamson
NFL.com is reporting the Chargers and left tackle Marcus McNeill have recently resumed contract talks and the two sides could come to an agreement soon.
Chargers general manager A.J. Smith has been adamant the Chargers have priorities. Now that tight end Antonio Gates has been extended, perhaps McNeill is next. McNeill is currently staying away from minicamp. Stay tuned to this one.
Meanwhile, another San Diego holdout, receiver Vincent Jackson, is still being eyed by Washington and Seattle. The Chargers have been reluctant to trade him. If San Diego changes its mind, surely there will be more interest in Jackson.
Chargers coach Norv Turner thinks the Chargers could soon sign first-round pick Ryan Mathews because the picks surrounding the No. 12 pick have signed and his slot has been created.
