Evening AFC West news and notes
By Bill Williamson
ESPN’s Adam Schefter is reporting that Kansas City president Denny Thum has resigned from the team.
Thum has been a Chiefs employee for the past 36 years. Owner Clark Hunt will now be the team's CEO. This is an internal move that has no apparent effect on football operations. General manager Scott Pioli clearly has had a huge role since he was hired 20 months ago.
Chiefs defensive lineman Tyson Jackson will miss a 1-2 weeks with a knee injury, according to a report out of Kansas City. This will be worth monitoring during the week. Jackson, the No. 3 overall pick in 2009, had a strong game against the Chargers on Monday before leaving the game.
There has been no significant progress made in talks between the Broncos and star cornerback Champ Bailey. The team and Bailey began preliminary talks last week, but they are not close to finalizing a deal. Bailey is set to be a free agent after the season.
Denver signed linebacker Titus Brown and defensive lineman Jeff Stehle to the practice squad. Denver cut linebacker Worrell Williams from the practice squad. He is the brother of Denver linebacker D.J. Williams.
Receiver David Clowney has re-signed with the Jets. He recently worked out for the Chiefs.
