More change for Chargers' special teams
By Bill Williamson
The San Diego Chargers have chosen Kris Brown to be their placekicker Sunday against New England.
He was signed Wednesday after the Chargers tried out three kickers, the San Diego Union Tribune reported. San Diego kicker Nate Kaeding will miss at least a week with a groin injury. He was hurt in pre-game warm ups Sunday before the loss to St. Louis. It's been known since Monday that the Chargers needed a new kicker this week.
While Brown is a temporary solution, the Chargers feel good about him because he has experience and he should be relaxed while taking over for Kaeding.
Still, it means more flux to San Diego’s struggling special teams. The team is on its fifth long snapper, Mike Windt. Holder Mike Scifres has even more adjusting to do this week as he works with his snapper for the second week and his new kicker for the first time.
No, 3 quarterback J.T. O’Sullivan was cut to make room for Brown. O’Sullivan was signed before the first game because No. 2 quarterback Billy Volek was recovering from a knee injury.
