Antonio Gates misses another practice
By Bill Williamson
San Diego tight end Antonio Gates missed his fifth straight day of practice, further putting in doubt his chances of playing Thursday night against San Francisco. Gates has missed three of the past five games -- including Sunday’s 31-0 win over Kansas City.
He said Sunday that he wanted to get some practice time in before playing again. If Gates misses practice Wednesday, there's a strong chance he misses the game for the Chargers, who likely need to win their final three games to have a legitimate chance to make the playoffs.
Linebacker Larry English didn’t practice Tuesday with a foot injury. He practiced Monday. Receiver Malcom Floyd was limited Tuesday with a hamstring injury.
Meanwhile, the Chargers announced Thursday’s game will be televised locally. The team sold enough tickets by Tuesday’s deadline to avoid a blackout.
Also, police ruled out San Diego receiver Legedu Naanee as a suspect in an assault during a bar fight.
