The San Diego Union Tribune looks at how the Kellen Winslow contract in Tampa Bay could affect a new contract for San Diego tight end Antonio Gates. The team would like to finalize contract extensions for both Gates and quarterback Philip Rivers. Regardless of Winslow's big deal, Gates is sure to break the bank.

The Chiefs' return to Missouri from Wisconsin for training camp may have some snags.

The Broncos trade of quarterback Jay Cutler cost the team $1.9 million in salary cap space because of contract escalators.

The Chiefs signed receiver Rodney Wright and long snapper Tanner Purdum. Wright was on Buffalo's practice squad six years ago. He most recently played in the Arena Football League. Purdum last played at Baker University in 2007. Both Wright and Purdum have to be considered long shots to make Kansas City's 53-man roster.
