Curtis in, Bowe not at start of practice
By Bill Williamson
The Kansas City Chiefs raised some eyebrows earlier Wednesday when they signed veteran receiver Kevin Curtis.
Later Wednesday, the Kansas City Star reported that Pro Bowl receiver Dwayne Bowe was absent from the beginning of practice. No further explanation was given.
I don’t think the Chiefs would have brought in a veteran like Curtis if they didn’t think they’d need him in some role Sunday against visiting Baltimore in an AFC wild-card game. At the very least, Curtis was likely brought in to provide some depth Sunday.
Curtis, 32, played one game with Miami this season. He dealt with testicular cancer earlier in the year.
Curtis has had a nice career as a postseason receiver. He has started five playoff games. To make room for Curtis, Kansas City put safety Donald Washington on injured reserve.
I will pass along any updates on Bowe that are available.
