RIVER FALLS, Wis. -- The Raiders released veteran safety Greg Wesley Monday. Wesley leaves the team as Adam Archuleta joins the club. Archuleta, a safety since joining the league seven years ago, is moving to linebacker.
Wesley was signed shortly before training camp began and just days after he was cut by Kansas City. However, he never took off in Oakland's camp. The coaching staff determined that Wesley would not make the team, thus the fast decision to release him.
Unless they make a free-agent or waiver-wire move, Oakland will likely look to young players to back up Gibril Wilson and Michael Huff at safety.
