Asomugha finalist for prestigious award
By Bill Williamson
Congratulations are in order to Oakland cornerback Nnamdi Asomugha.
He is one of three finalists for the Walter Payton NFL man of the year award. It will be awarded prior to the Super Bowl Feb. 6. The other finalists are Chicago defensive lineman Israel Idonije and Minnesota safety Madieu Williams.
This is the most prestigious off-field award a player can win. Kansas City guard Brian Waters won it last year.
Asomugha is known for being one of the NFL fiercest workers in the community. Much of his work is based on helping children continue their education.
