Remaining AFC West issues

Let’s address some of the lingering issues in the AFC West:

Will Oakland hire a defensive coordinator? There were many reports that speculated the Raiders could chase Green Bay’s Winston Moss or Darren Perry. The two men have been available for two weeks and there hasn’t been any reported movement. I think there is still a chance that Oakland could hire a defensive coordinator. But there is also a chance that it sticks with what it has. I know the Raiders are very pleased with the additions of Chuck Bresnahan and Rod Woodson and the promotion of Greg Biekert. They feel good about their defensive staff as it is currently assembled regardless of the defensive coordinator situation. Bresnahan was hired for an unspecified role, but he could still be given the top defensive job.

Will Shaun Rogers sign with Kansas City? The massive defensive tackle has also visited with Washington and New Orleans. There haven’t been any other reported visits. He is expected to make his decision within the next week or so. Right now, it’s a wait-and-see situation for the Chiefs.

Will Zach Miller be given the franchise tag? The deadline for Oakland to make the decision is Thursday. There was a report the Raiders were leaning toward giving Miller the franchise tag. However, there is a chance Oakland could gamble that Miller will be a restricted free agent as part of a new CBA and then work on a long-term deal.
