RIVER FALLS, Wis. --- The tornado warning is off. To celebrate, here are some notes from the Chiefs' early practice:
Kansas City coach Todd Haley still isn't overly concerned about potentially facing Brett Favre in Friday night's preseason game against Minnesota. Haley said the only difference may be the noise level in Metrodome. If Favre plays, this isn't going to be your average preseason game. At least not for a series or so.
Veteran linebacker Zach Thomas continues to be out of practice because an injury. Haley is happy with the progress being made with linebacker Corey Mays.
Haley was sporting a Dallas Texans hat. That, of course, was the original name of the Chiefs and the team will honor the Texans this year as part of the 50th anniversary of the AFL.
Long snapper Thomas Gafford was working at tight end. Haley said he also may work some at fullback. If Gafford can capably play those spots, it could save the Chiefs at another position when the final 53-man roster is compiled.
