Chat wrap: How Wimbley can help Raiders

By Bill Williamson
ESPN.com

Here are some highlights from our AFC West chat, which was held Thursday:

Denver

Kevin from Oklahoma: The longer it takes for (Kyle) Orton to be traded do the odds increase that he stays with Denver this year, and would Denver keep him as the starter if that was the case?

Bill Williamson: I think he'd go in as the starter, but there will be competition. it would be a major NFL storyline.

Kansas City

Jesse from Kirksville Missouri: The Chiefs tend to not be very exciting in free agency, who are they looking at in free agency?

BW: I think they will look for a DT and maybe a tackle. The Chiefs will take their time and take players who they think fits what they want to get done. Scott Pioli has his way of doing things and it has worked pretty well.

Oakland

James from Raleigh , N.C.: Is a long term deal between the Raiders and (Kamerion) Wimbley imminent.

BW: It would have to give him big money to make up for the loss of the franchise tag this year. The Raiders want to do something because it would give them cap room.

I have some news regarding Wimbley. His agent, Joe Linta, said Thursday evening that he will meet with the Raiders in California on Friday night or Saturday in attempt to get a long-term deal done. So, perhaps the Raiders will soon get some cap relief.

San Diego

Cody from SD: What are the chances the Chargers sign (Malcom) Floyd if they can’t get (Kevin) Burnett signed?

BW: Possible. I like Floyd. I think they should keep him. The receiver market hasn't busted open yet, so he may take some time to figure out his future.
