Reviewing AFC West Power Rankings

By Bill Williamson
ESPN.com

The following is a look at how the AFC West teams fared in our first preseason NFL Power Rankings. I do not have a vote, but, of course, I have an opinion:

San Diego Chargers

Power ranking: 10

My range: 8-12

Why: I think the Chiefs should be ranked ahead of the Chargers because they won the division and they improved in the offseason, as the Chargers did. I think they are close, but tie goes to the champion.

Kansas City Chiefs

Power ranking: 14

My range: 8-12

Why: See above.

Oakland Raiders

Power ranking: 23

My range: 16-18

Why: There’s no doubt the Raiders need to prove they are somehow improved despite losing Nnamdi Asomugha and Zach Miller. But I think No. 23 is a low ranking for this team.

Denver Broncos

Power ranking: 27

My range: 28-30

Why: I think the Broncos are one of the worst teams in the NFL until they prove otherwise.
