Broncos lift cloud by releasing Perrish Cox
By Bill Williamson
The Denver Post reports the Broncos have cut embattled cornerback Perrish Cox.
The paper said Cox’s release was football-related. But Cox’s name looms large in Denver for other reasons. He will go to trial in October on sexual-assault charges that could imprison him for life. Cox didn’t perform well this preseason. The fifth-round pick in 2010 started nine games last season and looked to have a bright future. He was arrested during last season.
I don’t feel comfortable coming to any conclusions before such a serious trial. But I’m sure this decision will play well in Denver regardless of the reasons.
Cox could have a hard time finding another job until his legal issues are resolved.
