Clayton: Jags like Broncos' OC
By Bill Williamson
Not that the Broncos’ recent offensive efforts have helped him, but Denver offensive coordinator Mike McCoy is getting some recognition.
ESPN’s John Clayton reported that Jacksonville has sought permission to talk to McCoy about its vacant head-coaching job. There are several candidates for the job and McCoy is not considered a frontrunner at this point. If he is interviewed, it will be after the Broncos’ season is over. Denver hosts Pittsburgh in a wild-card game Sunday.
McCoy has been credited with adjusting his offense to Tim Tebow, enjoying success after changing philosophies during the season. However, Tebow and the offense have slumped during a three-game losing skid.
Even if McCoy doesn’t get the Jacksonville job, the fact that there is interest in him will help him down the road when other jobs open in coming years.
