OAKLAND, Calif. -- Shawne Merriman wasn’t ready to give himself a top grade for his performance Monday night in San Diego’s thrilling 24-20 win over the Raiders.
Merriman had five tackles. He didn’t have a sack, but he did pressure the quarterback a couple of times.
Merriman said he is not where he wants to be. But considering this was his most extensive action in a year, he is happy with the progress. Merriman last played a full game in Week 1 of last season. After that game, he had season-ending knee surgery.
“I played the whole game and I felt good,” Merriman said. “I’m still working my way back, but it felt good to get out there.”
Merriman reiterated that he is a few weeks from being completely healthy.
“I’m sure when it will be and I can’t put a date on it,” Merriman said. “But every seven to 10 days I make significant progress and I think that is happening now. I’m getting there.”
