Signing Dontari Poe gets easier for Chiefs
By Bill Williamson
There isn’t much keeping Dontari Poe from signing with the Kansas City Chiefs.
The defensive tackle was the No. 11 overall draft pick in April. On Monday, Philadelphia signed defensive tackle Fletcher Cox, the No. 12 pick. Previously, Buffalo signed cornerback Stephon Gilmore, the No. 10 pick.
Thus, the two players sandwiched between Poe are signed and Poe's contract can be slotted between the two finished deals. Rookie contracts are much easier to finalize as part of the new collective bargaining agreement. So with the contracts done between him, I can see Poe signing sometime soon.
Poe is the Chiefs’ lone remaining unsigned draft pick. San Diego has signed its entire class. Denver and Oakland each have two unsigned rookies.
