Moving on: San Diego Chargers
By Bill Williamson
Here are some areas the San Diego Chargers need to focus on after a 27-3 home loss to the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday:
Recap: After starting 2-0 for the first time under Norv Turner -- and looking good doing it -- the Chargers were thumped by the best team they played this season. It was a very discouraging game.
Biggest area to fix: There were a lot of problems Sunday, but the Chargers struggled against the blitz. According to ESPN Stats & Information, San Diego quarterback Philip Rivers completed just 6 of 14 passes and threw both of his interceptions against five or more Atlanta pass-rushers. Expect future opponents to try the same formula.
Biggest area to build on: The Chargers were hammered by the Falcons, but backup running back Jackie Battle looked good for the second straight game. He had 55 yards on three carries. He should continue to be in the rotation.
What to watch for: The Chargers will try to stay in first place in the AFC West with a road win at Kansas City.
