Brady Quinn officially gets chance
By Bill Williamson
In what was essentially a formality, the Kansas City Chiefs have ruled quarterback Matt Cassel out of Sunday’s game at Tampa Bay. Cassel suffered a concussion against visiting Baltimore on Sunday.
Brady Quinn, you officially have your chance to be the Chiefs’ quarterback.
It has been expected all week that Cassel wouldn’t play and Quinn, who was 3-for-3 on pass attempts after taking over for Cassel in the fourth quarter against the Ravens, would start. Quinn, signed in March to be Cassel’s backup, took first-team repetitions Wednesday.
The Chiefs have a bye after the Tampa Bay game, so I’d think, unless there are lingering affects from the concussion, Cassel could have a chance to play Oct. 28 against visiting Oakland. However, if Quinn leads the Chiefs to a win against Tamps Bay, I’d expect him to remain the starter. Cassel was struggling before he was hurt.
Wednesday, I looked at keys for Quinn to succeed.
