Ryan Mathews back in good graces
By Bill Williamson
The Ryan Mathews roller coaster continues.
U-T San Diego reports that it appears Mathews will start Monday night against Denver. Jackie Battle has started the past two games, with Mathews coming in off the bench.
But Mathews has been running well. I have not been caught up in whether Mathews is the starter or not. In the past two games, Battle has 19 carries and Mathews has 26.
The Chargers want Mathews to be the primary back. If he produces like he has the past two games, he will be.
In other AFC West news:
Kansas City coach Romeo Crennel said ruining back Peyton Hillis (ankle) and defensive end Glenn Dorsey (calf) will not practice. They will likely miss another game. Receiver Jon Baldwin (hamstring) will be limited Thursday.
The Chiefs put cornerback Neiko Thorpe back on the practice squad. He was cut from the 53-man roster this week.
