Halftime thoughts on Saints-Broncos

By Bill Williamson

DENVER -- Halftime thoughts as the Denver Broncos lead the New Orleans Saints, 17-7.

The Broncos should be very pleased with their effort in the first half Sunday night, controlling this game thanks to quarterback Peyton Manning's efficient play. Manning completed 11 of 16 passes for 178 yards and he looks as sharp as he did prior to the bye.

Denver's defense is doing a fine job against Drew Brees and the Saints’ high-powered offense. Brees is 9 of 18 for 104 yards.

Denver cornerback Chris Harris, starting for an ill Tracy Porter, continues to impress. Porter may have a hard time regaining his starting job when healthy.

Defensive tackle Mitch Unrein was in the Denver backfield on a Willis McGahee short touchdown run in the first quarter.
