Big-name prospects coming to AFC West?
By Bill Williamson
Are Matt Barkley and Manti Te’o headed to the AFC West?
As of now, Mel Kiper Jr. thinks so. Yes, the NFL draft is almost six months away and a lot will change between now and then and there will be countless projections.
But any time Kiper thinks something, it’s worth my time to consider. In an Insider piece, Kiper connects players to teams in the first round. Kiper has Barkley headed to Kansas City and Te’o headed to Oakland. They both make sense; because both players would fill major need areas.
But questions remain. Will Barkley be worthy of a very high pick that the 1-7 Chiefs look like they are going to secure? Will the 3-5 Raiders pick high enough to take Te’o, who could be a top-five pick?
Again, we’re in the early stages of the draft talk, but these are interesting choices as of November 5.
In other AFC West news:
Oakland running back Darren McFadden and Denver running back Willis McGahee are on a list they don’t want to be on.
And you wonder why Peyton Manning and Andrew Luck are so connected?
