Is Dwayne Bowe done as a Chief?
By Bill Williamson
There is a chance we have seen the last of Dwayne Bowe in a Kansas City Chiefs' uniform.
Coach Romeo Crennel said the standout receiver will not play Sunday at the Oakland Raiders after he left Sunday’s loss at the Cleveland Browns with a rib injury. Crennel said it is possible Bowe will not return at all this season.
With three games remaining for the 2-11 Chiefs, I would think Bowe may be done for the season if the injury lingers. Bowe is a free agent at the end of the season.
Bowe was franchised this year and he held out during the preseason. Kansas City could franchise him again, sign him to an extension or let him walk. We won’t know what strategy the team will employ until after we know if ownership will keep the current brass.
Bowe has been a productive player for Kansas City since being drafted in the first round in 2007. He has 415 career catches and has 59 catches this season.
In other AFC West news:
Oakland defensive tackle Richard Seymour is back at practice after missing five games with a hamstring issue. Safety Tyvon Branch is not practicing with neck and ankle issues. Running back Darren McFadden, as expected, is fine after re-aggravating an ankle injury Thursday night that kept him out of four games.
