Broncos QB Peyton Manning honored again
By Bill Williamson
Another day, another honor for Peyton Manning.
The Denver Broncos quarterback was named the AFC offensive player for December. It is his second monthly honor this season and the sixth of his career, which ties an NFL record.
Manning completed 123-of-174 passes (70.7 percent) for 1,399 yards with 11 touchdowns and three interceptions in December as he led the Broncos to a 5-0 record. Wednesday, Manning was named the AFC offensive player of the week. It was his 23rd such honor, tying him for the NFL record with New England quarterback Tom Brady.
In other AFC West news:
-- USA Today is reporting the Chargers are going to interview Giants executive Marc Ross. He will be the sixth general manager candidate. San Diego is talking to all the top candidates.
-- There are several reports that have Andy Reid close to joining the Chiefs. And there are also reports the Chargers will interview him. There have not been any other reports of the Chargers interviewing coaches yet as the team is focusing on general manager search.
Reid is from Southern California and would likely love to talk to the Chargers. Again, though, the Chiefs might win the race.
Just another boring day in our humble division.
