Chat wrap: Could Chargers target WR?
By Bill Williamson
Here are some highlights of our AFC West chat, which was held earlier Thursday:
Nick from Denver: Mike Klis reported that the Broncos and Freeney are far apart in contract talks. Any insight into how far apart? Think they have a shot at Margus Hunt? And would he fit in well?
Bill Williamson: Yeah, it looks like Denver may wait until the draft. Hunt is a possibility yes. Maybe in second round.
Tim from Bryce Canyon, Ut.: What are your sources telling you about a Brandon Albert trade?
BW: Miami is the only team that, right now, may be a fit. Could take some time. Chiefs would love a second and a seventh. I wouldn't be surprised if they settled for a second.
Ryan McMaster from Sicklerville, NJ: Hey Bill, Basing this off of what you know, who is your gut instinct to start at QB for Oakland in 2013? Palmer, Pryor, Flynn, Young, or Smith?
BW: First, I think we have to see how the Palmer deal shakes out. This latest report of him not wanting $10 million from Oakland, may not be how things play out. I don't get the sense, as of this moment, that the Raiders are done with Palmer yet. And that's on good authority.
Robert from Bloomington, In.: The Chargers need as much offensive help as they can get. Could you foresee them going against conventional wisdom and taking Austin or Patterson at 11? Patterson in particular would be an interesting replacement for Jackson.
BW: Austin and Patterson would be great there, but I think they would be backup plans to the backup plan if all the LTs were gone. Maybe they could be an option if the Chargers traded down to the 16-20 range.
