Stefen Wisniewski is centered in Oakland

By Bill Williamson

NAPA, Calif. -- There has been some scuttlebutt in league circles that the Oakland Raiders could move Stefen Wisniewski from center to guard.

Thus far, the Raiders don’t seem interested in doing so and Wisniewski is on the same page as the team.

“I don’t think I’ll be switching any time soon,” Wisniewski said. “I think center is my best position and I really like being there.”

Wisniewski, a second-round pick in 2011, was a smashing success at guard as a rookie. There was a learning process at center but Wisniewski did play well.

The Raiders have some questions at guard, and the recent signing of veteran Andre Gurode, who can play center and guard, caused some speculation about Wisniewski’s future.

“I think we’re better off with me staying at center,” Wisniewski said. “I like what I can do from that position and [where] we are headed as an offensive line.”

Wisniewski has looked strong at camp and I expect him to take the next step in his third NFL season.
