King Dunlap a factor in San Diego
By Bill Williamson
The San Diego Chargers' first depth chart confirms what has been evident in the first several days of training camp: King Dunlap is leading the race to be the team’s left tackle over Max Starks.
Dunlap has worked with the first unit for most of training camp and has looked better than Starks. Both players are in their first seasons with the Chargers. The position was the biggest question mark in San Diego this offseason and Starks was supposed to provide some short-term stability there.
Dunlap was just signed to be a swing player at tackle after he struggled as a starter with the Eagles last year. Now it appears it is his job to lose.
In other AFC West notes:
Oakland signed former Miami defensive lineman Ryan Baker to add depth. Nose tackle Johnny Jones was cut.
Former Kansas City receiver Steve Breaston signed with New Orleans.
