Power Rankings: No. 8 Kansas City Chiefs
By Adam Teicher
An examination of the Chiefs’ ESPN.com Power Ranking:
Preseason: 22 | Last Week: 13 | ESPN.com Power Ranking since 2002
The Kansas City Chiefs are one of seven undefeated NFL teams remaining and they are eighth in this week’s Power Rankings, so they are ranked last among the 3-0 teams and behind one of the 2-1 teams.
A case could be made for the Chiefs to be ranked higher. They are plus-37 in point differential, third behind only Seattle and Denver.
The 2-1 Cincinnati Bengals are the only one-loss team ahead of the Chiefs. The Bengals, like the Chiefs, have a victory over a winless team. They also have a home win against Green Bay, but is that any more impressive than the Chiefs' win over the Cowboys at Arrowhead Stadium?
So if the Chiefs were to move up, it would be to No. 7. That’s the spot occupied by the Miami Dolphins. They, like the Chiefs, have two road wins (Cleveland and Indianapolis). They also beat the Falcons at home. Their point differential (plus-21) isn’t as strong as that of the Chiefs, so an argument could be made that the Chiefs belong at No. 6.
