McFadden absent; Reece tests his knee

By Paul Gutierrez

ALAMEDA, Calif. – Among the injured Oakland Raiders, only running back Darren McFadden and strong safety Tyvon Branch were not on the practice field during the open media window.

The fact that fullback Marcel Reece was practicing, albeit in a limited capacity, should bode well for his availability Sunday night against San Diego. And if McFadden cannot play – with his injury history, it would be hard to argue with the Raiders sitting him for two weeks and taking advantage of the ensuing bye week – Reece would be the third tailback, behind Rashad Jennings and Jeremy Stewart.

“He ran around a bit yesterday and tested it out,” coach Dennis Allen said of Reece’s sprained left knee. “He felt good and was able to practice today. I thought he had a good practice, so we’ll continue to monitor him throughout the week, but I was encouraged to see him out there.”

Following, then, is the Raiders’ injury report for Wednesday:

Did not participate: SS Tyvon Branch (ankle), RB Darren McFadden (right hamstring), DT Stacy McGee (shoulder), Stefen Wisniewski (right knee), FS Charles Woodson (non-injury related)

Limited practice: DE Jason Hunter (quad), LG Lucas Nix (ankle), RT Tony Pashos (groin), CB Tracy Porter (ribs), FB Marcel Reece (left knee), LT Menelik Watson (right knee)

Full practice: Terrelle Pryor (concussion)
