Ending a month of speculation, the Chargers have informed receiver Eric Parker he will be released. Parker has a toe injury that kept him out of 2007 and it is not completely healed.
Parker, a tough, reliable No. 3 receiver, is expected to be ready to sign with another team in the coming weeks. However, he is not ready to play now so that will probably slow down any moment toward him signing with a new team.
Because of his track record, Parker will likely receive solid interest on the open market when he is healthy enough to sign. The Chargers had been trying to trade him, but no teams bit because he was expected to get cut.
