Here are a couple of early notes before I head out to Invesco Field at Mile High for the Broncos-Buccaneers game:
Chris Mortensen, on ESPN's Sunday NFL Countdown, reported that Lane Kiffin is preparing a grievance against the Oakland Raiders to retrieve the $3.5 million that is remaining on his contract. Raiders' owner Al Davis said Tuesday that he fired Kiffin "for cause" and that he will not pay him.
Kiffin's grievance has been expected and it will likely take several months before a decision is made. But it appears the process is beginning.
Meanwhile, the Chargers have made a roster move prior to today's game at Miami. The team activated linebacker Stephen Cooper after he served a four-game NFL suspension for violating the steroid policy. To make room for Cooper, backup defensive tackle Brandon McKinney.
