San Diego charges into playoffs with great health
By Bill Williamson
Want another reason why the San Diego Chargers should beat the New York Jets on Sunday and extend their NFL-high win to 12 games?
They are healthy. Really, San Diego hasn’t been this healthy all season.
The team released its official injury report for Sunday’s AFC divisional playoff game. The only name on the list is punter Mike Scifres. He is listed a probable with a groin injury. He practiced fully all week and he is expected to play. Scifres, who played a huge role with phenomenal punting inside the 20 in a playoff win over the Colts last season, has been dealing with the nagging injury for weeks.
The Chargers are in great health. This is a welcome development for the 13-3 Chargers. This team was hit with an onslaught of injuries early in the season. Several Chargers had issues late in the season including linebacker Shawne Merriman, receiver Vincent Jackson and safety Eric Weddle.
But, as the injury report indicates, the red-hot Chargers are entering Sunday’s game at near full strength.
