Kaeding's issues against the Jets continue
By Bill Williamson
SAN DIEGO -- There’s something about Nate Kaeding playing the Jets in the playoffs.
Kaeding missed a 36-yard field goal in the first quarter. Kaeding -- the AFC's Pro Bowl kicker and a first-team All-Pro in 2009 -- has been amazing all year.
But it’s the curse of the Jets. In 2004, his rookie year, Kaeding missed a 40-yarder that would have won a playoff game against the Jets -- a contest San Diego ended up losing. He has been near automatic from inside the 40 since. According to ESPN Stats & Information, Kaeding made 29 straight field goals from inside the 40 until his miss Sunday.
The Qualcomm Stadium crowd appeared shocked when Kaeding missed. It will be interesting to see how the rare miss affects Kaeding the rest of the game.
